Rio Mesa 23, Channel Islands 7--Pancho Tinoco connected on touchdown passes of 28 and 35 yards to lead Rio Mesa (3-7, 2-2) at its homecoming.

Channel Islands (1-8-1, 1-3) scored first on a seven-yard run by Russell Patton in the first quarter. Patton had 58 yards in 21 carries before leaving in the third quarter with a neck injury.

Tinoco threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Tom Saxey with 11 minutes to play in the second quarter. Phillip Tinoco, Pancho’s cousin, recovered a fumble at the Channel Islands 35-yard line. On the next play, Steven Qualls grabbed a 35-yard touchdown pass for a 14-7 lead with 10:18 left in the half.
