Bomb Kills 3 Israeli Soldiers in Lebanon

MARJAYOUN, Lebanon — Hezbollah guerrillas detonated a roadside bomb in southern Lebanon on Monday, killing three Israeli soldiers and wounding four, Lebanese security officials said.
The bomb was set off by remote control as an Israeli infantry patrol passed between the villages of Houla and Markaba.
The area is about 1 1/2 miles west of the Lebanese border with Israel, and 12 miles southwest of Marjayoun, the main town in the Israeli-occupied border zone in southern Lebanon.
In Jerusalem, an Israeli army spokesman confirmed the deaths and said two of the soldiers were seriously wounded. The Israeli military said the soldiers were on their way to a weapons-firing drill.
The Iranian-backed Hezbollah guerrilla group claimed responsibility for the blast. Six hours before the explosion, Israeli warplanes raided suspected guerrilla bases in the south, the eighth such attack in as many days, the Lebanese security officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Hezbollah is leading a guerrilla war to oust about 1,500 Israeli soldiers and 2,500 allied militiamen from the occupied zone.
