Youth Club to Attend National Conference

The Boys & Girls Club of Ventura has been selected as one of 96 organizations across the nation to take part in the 1998 National Conference on Preventing Crime.
More than 80 workshops will be offered at the conference in Washington, D.C., Oct. 11-14. One workshop titled “Smart Teens in Safer Communities” will be presented by LaVonne McCullough, a member of the Ventura club selected for her expertise in working with teenagers.
Program Director Robert Gumbala will represent the club at the conference, along with Ventura Police Sgt. Ken Orney and Peter Brown of the city’s Community Services Department.
