A Camarillo woman was killed and six people injured Saturday in a two-car collision near the High Desert community of Littlerock, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The accident occurred about 9:30 a.m. when the driver of a 1997 Ford Escort traveling south on 106th Street East ran a stop sign at Pearblossom Highway and broadsided a 1996 Chevrolet Camaro, said Officer David Stark of the Antelope Valley’s CHP station said.
The 33-year-old driver of the Camaro was killed and her passenger, a 65-year-old woman from Marion, Ohio, was hospitalized at Holy Cross Medical Center in critical condition, authorities said.
The driver of the Escort, 19-year-old Ruben Curiel of Littlerock, and four passengers in his car were treated for injuries that ranged from minor to moderate, Stark said. A pregnant woman in Curiel’s car was airlifted to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where hospital officials described her condition as fair.
CHP officials said Curiel will be cited for running a stop sign and could face manslaughter charges pending the outcome of an investigation into the accident.
