7 TONIGHT SANTA ANA STADIUM
The Diablos’ biggest claim so far this season is being the only team to score on Santa Fe Springs St. Paul, which has since recorded six consecutive shutouts. Now, Mission Viejo, coming off a difficult loss to Trabuco Hills, would like to upset the Monarchs. But Mater Dei, which scored a season-high 42 points in beating Capistrano Valley last week, appears to be on a roll. Mater Dei linebacker Kevin Mitchell (hamstring) misses a third week, but tailback Junior Palacios (knee) will return. John Hudgins has settled in as Mission Viejo’s quarterback and must remain calm in the face of the Monarchs’ pass rush.
