L.A. WASHINGTON VS. LOS ALAMITOS
When: 7 tonight
Where: Cerritos Gahr High
Records: Washington 0-0, Los Alamitos 0-0
Rankings: Los Alamitos ranked No. 1 in Orange County.
Noteworthy: The Griffins, coming off a 9-3 season, are considered the county’s best team. Tonight is the first chance to prove their worth against a team considered much improved from a 3-7-1 season last year. Washington has lost decisively to Los Alamitos in the previous three meetings, but Coach Rick Mull said this season he might have the offense to compete. It starts with Davon Jones, who Mull said “is the best quarterback I’ve started a season with in my four years here.” John Barnes also breaks in a new quarterback, Ryan Hanson. But offense is not the coach’s biggest concern. “I want to see us play some great defense,” he said. “That’s what’s been missing here.” Los Alamitos is not 100% for tonight’s game; Austin Guyness (shoulder), Ryan Godfrey (knee), and Adolph Keyes (shoulder) are doubtful.
