Billy Soose, who won the New York State middleweight title in 1941, is dead at the age of 83. He died Sept. 5 in Honesdale, Pa., after a stroke. Soose was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1984.
Former NHL goaltender Harry Lumley, inducted into the Hall of Fame after a 16-year career that included a Stanley Cup ring won in 1950 with the Red Wings, died Sunday. He was 71. Lumley died a week after suffering a heart attack.
Leslie Hood has resigned as girls’ soccer coach at Pacifica High for personal reasons, Athletic Director George Terlaak announced Monday. Hood led the Mariners to the Southern Section Division II-A quarterfinals and a record of 18-4, 12-0 in the Garden Grove League.
