Engineers File Complaint Against Boeing

The Southern California Professional Engineering Assn. has filed an unfair labor practice charge against Boeing Co., accusing the plane maker of refusing to include the labor union’s members in an incentive plan offered to all other salaried employees at Boeing. The SCPEA, which represents 5,000 engineers mainly in Long Beach and Huntington Beach, said Seattle-based Boeing was obligated under its labor agreement to substitute the company’s incentive plan after it discontinued a similar McDonnell Douglas plan Dec. 31. The Seattle Professional Engineering Assn., a sister organization, is included in the plan in question, SCPEA President Donald Peter said. Boeing spokesman Peter Conte said that the incentive plan “hasn’t been ruled out, but is subject to bargaining.”
