Mars Pathfinder Is Topic of Talk

The chief project scientist for the Mars Pathfinder Project, the 1997 unmanned mission to the Red Planet, will speak Sept. 30 at Concordia University.
Matthew Golombek of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena will discuss the historic adventure that sent images of Mars to Earth and launched the information-gathering Sojourner rover onto the planet surface.
Golombek is responsible for the content of the mission and is liaison to NASA. As a research scientist for JPL, Golombek has worked on Earth and planetary structural geology and tectonics.
