A 21-year-old Los Angeles man was killed and three others were injured early Friday when a car crashed at high speed into an Echo Park apartment building, authorities said.
Haubon Tonelete, the driver, died after crashing into a building in the 1500 block of Echo Park Avenue, fire officials said.
The car struck the building with such force that fire officials recommended city inspectors check the structure, said Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. No evacuations were reported.
Tonelete, who was found pinned behind the wheel after the 12:45 a.m. accident, suffered massive head and chest injuries, fire officials said. Another man who suffered head and chest injuries was hospitalized and reported in stable condition, Humphery said.
Two other men complained of leg and chest pain, fire officials said.
