Marines Halt Search for Copter Lost at Sea

SAN DIEGO — The Marine Corps on Friday halted rescue efforts aimed at locating a Huey helicopter from Camp Pendleton that crashed at sea Wednesday night 12 miles off Oceanside.
The four crew members are now presumed dead, the service said. The helicopter was practicing takeoffs and landings on the Navy ship Rushmore when it crashed. Seven helicopters and five ships were part of the all-day search Thursday.
Missing and presumed dead are Capt. Barry Fleming, 28, of Northbrook, Ill; Capt. Robert Falkenbach, 27, of Bumpass, Va.; Staff Sgt. Steven King, 28, of Columbus, Miss.; and Sgt. Barry Coleman, 28, of Baldwin, Ala.
