Man Found Shot Dead in His Car

SUN VALLEY — The bullet-riddled body of a 40-year-old man found Friday night was the tragic result of a dispute between acquaintances, police said Saturday.
The victim, Edwin Nava, was found slumped in the front seat of his vehicle by police officers answering a call of shots being fired in the 11000 block of Cantlay Street, said Det. Mike Coffey of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division.
Nava had been shot several times in the upper body, Coffey said. He was pronounced dead by Los Angeles firefighters at 9:45 p.m.
Investigators said Nava was fatally wounded by the acquaintance, Coffey said, but they did not know what prompted the shooting.
On Saturday, police were searching for a suspect, David Forgus, 51, who investigators said fled the scene of the shooting on a brown 10-speed girls’ bicycle, Coffey said.
Forgus is 5 feet 9 inches tall with a shaved head, a goatee and numerous tattoos, Coffey said.
