* Re “Panel May Limit Late-Night Noise at Film Studios,” Sept. 12.

I was pleased to see your report that negotiations between Universal and the powers that be are approaching resolution (meetings are scheduled Oct. 7 and 14).

As a longtime resident in the neighborhood adjacent to Universal City (Toluca Lake), I have watched with interest this project, attending all the hearings since inception of discussions between the staff from Universal and the commission.

Strongly believing that Universal’s master plan will benefit this entire area, including reclamation of the North Hollywood business section, which I’ve sadly watched slide into decline, I hope that rationality will prevail so that inevitable progress will proceed expeditiously.
