The City Council tonight will consider an ordinance that would ban self-serve cigarette racks in local stores. The ordinance was proposed at the suggestion of the “Don’t Provide” Tobacco Task Force that aims to prevent underage smoking and drinking in the city. Members of the task force La Habra teachers, police officers, residents and teenagers--said teenagers were able to grab packs of cigarettes from the racks, many of which were unsupervised.
