BioSource International in Camarillo reported sales for the quarter that ended June 30 were $7.6 million, compared with $5.3 million reported for the same period in 1998.
The company reported net income of $1,004,800, or 13 cents per share, versus net income of $801,400, or 10 cents per share, for the same quarter last year.
Sales for the first six months of the year were $14.9 million, compared with $10.6 million reported for the same period in 1998. The company’s net income for the first six months of the calendar year was $1,791,000, or 23 cents per share, versus net income of $1,617,000 or 19 cents per share for the same period last year.
BioSource officials attributed the increase in sales during the second quarter to two factors: internal growth of 14% driven by strong sales of assay kits, antibodies and proteins; and growth as a result of the acquisition of QCB and Bio-fluids, which accounted for a 29% increase in sales.
BioSource develops and manufactures more than 2,800 products, including immunological reagents and test kits used in biomedical research. Its products focus on research in immunology, AIDS and cancer.
The products are marketed to academic, industrial and government laboratories.
