Re “Westside, Valley Not Accepting Calls for Area Code Overlays,” Aug. 1: I have been punching in the area code 310 for over three months to talk to my friends, my family, even my next-door neighbor and I don’t like it, I don’t like it at all.

Regarding the area code split, much is made about separate area codes for faxes, modems, cell phones and pagers. The separate area code split should be along land-line vs. wireless, i.e., cell phones and pagers. How would you differentiate land-line numbers for faxes and modems? You can’t, because a lot of second and third lines are also alternative voice lines in most homes and small businesses.
