Toddler Drowns in Backyard Pool

A 2-year-old Santa Ana boy drowned Wednesday in his family’s backyard pool, fire authorities said.
His identity was being withheld pending notification of family members. Emergency crews responded to a 911 call in the 13800 block of Deodar Street at 5:24 p.m., dispatcher Matt Johnson said.
The victim, who apparently had Down syndrome, was discovered unconscious and in cardiac arrest. He was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead.
