GARDEN GROVE — An armed man, apparently intent on killing his estranged wife, walked into a Garden Grove restaurant shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday, killed one male patron and wounded a woman before fatally shooting himself.
Garden Grove police spokesman Dave Abrecht said the man went to the Little Saigon Cafe near North Euclid Avenue and Business Center Parkway looking for his wife, who works at the restaurant.
He saw his wife and fired at her, Abrecht said, but missed, instead fatally wounding a male patron of the establishment.
Before turning the handgun on himself, the gunman also wounded a woman at the cafe, who was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center, where she was reported to be in critical condition.
The identities of the two victims were withheld Friday pending notification of relatives.
