Anyone who has questions about how the city will spend $100 million over 10 years as part of a federal Empowerment Zone program should contact Aldo E. Schindler, the Empowerment Zone manager at (714) 647-6507, or Shawna D. Lahey, the economic development aide, at (714) 647-5372. The City Council recently appointed 22 members to an Empowerment Zone board of directors, a panel that will decide how to allocate up to $100 million in federal money in 10 years. Council members also approved the distribution of $1.8 million in first-year zone money, with $997,500 going to expand the Delhi Park and Community Center.
