About 50 Orange Park Acres residents are expected to attend the Serrano Water District meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Roger Faubel, spokesman for the residents, said he requested that the fate of Barham Ranch be listed on the district’s agenda. David Noyes, the water district’s general manager, said it cannot be on the agenda because it is currently in litigation. However, community members can voice opinions during public comment time at the beginning of the meeting.

The Serrano Water District board of directors will consult with its lawyer on its case against the Orange Unified School District in closed session. The water district is suing the school district to force it to sell Barham Ranch, which is owned by the two agencies. The school district would like to see the land used for an elementary school, while the water district is pushing to sell it to SunCal, a developer. Residents of Orange Park Acres want the land preserved as a nature site.
