Tekelec Suffers 2nd-Quarter Loss Despite Revenue Boost

Tekelec, Calabasas, reported a net loss in the second quarter ended June 30 of $6.1 million, compared with earnings of $8.4 million for the like quarter last year.
Revenues increased 20% to $51.7 million. The company attributed the loss to merger-related charges and other costs resulting from the acquisition of IEX Corp.
Tekelec is a supplier of signaling and control systems and other products for the telecommunications industry.
