NBA Hall-of-Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who took a job this year as assistant basketball coach at Alchesay High School on the White Mountain Indian Reservation in northeastern Arizona, has listed his Beverly Hills-area home at $3.8 million.
The former Lakers center, who became the NBA all-time leading scorer in 1984, co-wrote the book “Black Profiles in Courage” (William Morrow, 1996), and he wrote the bestsellers “Kareem” (1990) and “Giant Steps” (1983). Abdul-Jabbar, 52, retired from the Lakers in 1989.
He has owned his home, on nearly an acre, since 1992. The contemporary-style house was built in 1991 with three bedrooms plus maid’s quarters. In 1996, he expanded the 4,000-square-foot house an additional 3,000 square feet, adding a gym, a squash court and guest quarters.
The guest suite doubles as a writer’s studio, with views from downtown Los Angeles to the Santa Monica Mountains.
The master bath also has a sauna, steam shower and massage area. The house has 20-foot-high ceilings and extra-tall doorways.

Rob Zombie, a purveyor of shock rock with his massive dreadlocks and custom-made contact lenses that turn his pupils into black pinholes, is buying a Hancock Park home for about $1.8 million.
Zombie, 34, was a founder of the band White Zombie in 1985. (As a child, he discovered and loved Bela Lugosi’s 1932 movie “White Zombie.”) The band, now known simply as Zombie, has become one of the top-selling metal acts of the ‘90s.
The singer released his solo-debut album “Hellbilly Deluxe” in 1998, and now, he runs his own record label, Zombie a Go-Go Records.
He is buying a six-bedroom, 6,200-square-foot house, built in 1924. The remodeled home has a butler’s pantry, breakfast room, guest house, pool house, pool and spa.

A Montecito home owned by director Oliver Stone’s ex-wife, Elizabeth Cox Stone, has been listed at $2.6 million. The couple, married from 1981 to 1993, once owned the home together.
The gated Mediterranean estate has a master suite, two-bedroom apartment and one-bedroom guest house.
Elizabeth Cox Stone is the mother of the director’s sons, Sean and Michael.
Sean Stone, born in 1984, has appeared in “Salvador” (1986), “Wall Street” (1987), “Born on the Fourth of July” (1989), “JFK” (1991) and “The Doors” (1991).
Dan Encell of Fred Sands’ Montecito office has the listing, sources said.
