Preliminary results from an autopsy have not cleared up the mystery of how Nerine Shatner, wife of “Star Trek” star William Shatner, died Monday evening, said a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Toxicology tests will be needed before the coroner can determine how the 40-year-old model and aspiring actress died, the spokesman said Wednesday.
William Shatner, best known for playing Captain Kirk on the “Star Trek” TV series, found his wife dead at the bottom of their swimming pool 10:15 p.m. Monday.
Police have said that she accidentally drowned while swimming at the couple’s Studio City mansion and that there were no signs of foul play.
The results of the lab tests are expected in several weeks, said the coroner’s spokesman.
