Mother Kills Baby, Herself

A mother threw her 9-month-old daughter out a sixth-story window at a downtown Los Angeles residential hotel, then jumped to her own death, police said Wednesday.
Carolyn Felton, 37, and her daughter, Janaya, died about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ford Hotel, 1002 E. 7th St., said Los Angeles Police Det. K.J. Jackson of the Juvenile Division’s Abused Child Unit.
“At this time, the motive for the murder-suicide is unknown,” said LAPD spokesman Jason Lee.
Cases involving minors’ deaths are automatically investigated by the Juvenile Division, Lee said.
