Hootie & the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker is making plans for a solo album and has had discussions with Wyclef Jean to produce. No target for recording and release has been set yet. . . .
England’s influential Mo’Wax label--the home of DJ Shadow, Money Mark and the UNKLE collaboration by Shadow and label owner James Lavelle--has made a deal for American distribution through indie Beggars Banquet. First up in the deal is the album “Kiss My Arp” by Andrea Parker, a respected and inventive deejay, composer and singer on the British club scene. The album’s due Oct. 19. . . .
Counting Crows singer Adam Duritz guests on two songs by L.A.-based band Joe 90 on its new album, “Dream This,” due Sept. 21 from Duritz’s own label, E Pluribus Unum. And if you listen closely to the song “November Bombs,” you can hear background hand-claps from “Party of Five” actor Scott Wolf. . . .
Singer Peter Case is overseeing a tribute album to bluesman Mississippi John Hurt, due early next year, with Dave Alvin, Chris Smither and Van Dyke Parks confirmed as participants. Case is also set to begin a new solo album, due around the same time. *
