The City Council will meet tonight to consider amending a local ordinance to include squirrels as wild animals not to be fed.
The proliferation of squirrels has been determined by city staff to contribute to bluff erosion and increased health risks to residents and tourists. In particular, the cliff areas at Heisler Park have been damaged due to large number of squirrels burrowing into the ground.
The council also will consider the Treasure Island development approved by the Planning Commission last week. The council meets at 6 p.m. in chambers, 505 Forest Ave. Information: (949) 497-0329.
