The Pacific Symphony’s 16th season of family concerts opens Oct. 16 and runs through June 3 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
Each of the six concerts will be led by the orchestra’s incoming assistant conductor, Mark Mandarano, recently resident conductor of the American Symphony Orchestra in New York.
Programs, aimed at children ages 4 to 13 and their families, run about 45 minutes and are given twice each Saturday, at 10 and 11:30 a.m. They are sponsored by Mervyn’s California.
In addition to music, the “Mervyn’s Musical Mornings” series gives kids the chance to meet musicians, examine instruments and learn more about music through the use of interactive CD-ROMs, electronic keyboards and computers.
Subscriptions are $54 for children under 14, $66 for adults. Individual tickets are $11 and $13, respectively. Information: (714) 755-5799.
