Airline Industry

* Re “This Industry Takes the Low Road,” Commentary, Aug. 5: If Doug Gamble thinks the air travel industry is the only one that has--should we say--sort of abandoned the “customer comes first” gospel, I guess he hasn’t visited a bank, grocery store or (on and on) lately.

I do wonder if he or other Republicans appreciate the obvious irony in these “coming home to roost” days of the Reagan deregulation dream. Here are members of the previously highly lauded private sector behaving exactly like the public employees (if not worse) who used to provide such abundant fodder for conservative jokesters.
