Boy Critical After Fall From Window

NEWHALL — An 18-month-old boy was in critical condition Wednesday after falling from a second-floor window, officials said.

Anthony Garcia fell out of an apartment window in the 24000 block of Pine Street about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Steve Dolan of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Santa Clarita Station. The toddler was apparently playing on a bunk bed with other children when he fell, Dolan said.

The boy was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he had surgery for a head injury, a hospital spokeswoman said. He was later transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit at Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA.
