Washington State wide receiver Nian Taylor has been sentenced to three days in the Whitman County jail and two years probation after pleading guilty to charges of malicious mischief in Pullman.
Taylor, the team’s co-captain, was accused of grabbing his ex-girlfriend and punching her in the chest. Taylor originally was sentenced to a year in jail in the June incident but Superior Court Judge Wallace Friel on Tuesday suspended 362 days of the sentence.
“We definitely believe that this is fair,” county Prosecuting Attorney Toby Crowell said. “We recommended a week in jail. But he already spent one night in jail the night he was arrested.”
Taylor was ordered to undergo domestic violence counseling and pay $511 in damages, plus court costs.
