The upcoming Downtown Disney complex of stores, restaurants and theaters is slated to have a restaurant created by one of Southern California’s best-known restaurateurs when it opens in early 2001.
Joachim Splichal, owner of Pinot Provence in Costa Mesa and seven other restaurants in the greater Los Angeles area, announced Thursday that his company, the Patina Group, will open a two-story restaurant featuring an outdoor wine and tapas bar.
“Downtown Disney is a fantastic project, and we’re proud to be a part of it,” Splichal said. The restaurant has not been named, but it is not expected to carry the Pinot name used in other Splichal establishments, including Pinot Hollywood and Pinot Bistro. The menu will feature Mediterranean flavors.
Downtown Disney is part of an expansion that includes a second Disney theme park south of Disneyland called Disney’s California Adventure.
