Love That Michael Crawford

Michael Crawford put on a great show at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (“Crawford Skillfully Mines Range of Musical Material,” by Don Heckman, Aug. 16).
Songs from “Phantom of the Opera” (“Music of the Night”, “All I Ask of You”) as well as other favorites, such as the spiritual “On Eagle’s Wings,” the rousing “Don’t Let the Parade Pass Me By” and the touching “Scarlet Ribbons,” all interspersed with funny behind-the-scenes stories, captivated the crowd, which gave him a standing ovation.
Since I attended the show with a member of his fan club, I was able to accompany her to a reception after the performance. He proved to be as warm, gracious and funny as he comes across on the stage.
He was the perfect choice to open the 1999-2000 season at this beautiful, elegant theater.
