The city will break ground on a $5.9-million housing development at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7. The project on Walker Street, which includes 60 apartments and a recreational center, will provide affordable housing for senior citizens. One- and two-bedroom apartments will be available to rent for applicants over 62 years old.
Apartments in the moderate-income complex are designed to be adaptable for handicapped residents but will not offer assisted living. The development is scheduled to be completed by spring.
