City planners are prepared to recommend a consultant at the next City Council meeting to study the best way to transform the city’s most prominent landmark into a successful cultural center. The council voted 3 to 2 in March to convert Casa Romantica, the home of town founder Ole Hanson, into a cultural center. About $80,000 has been earmarked to conduct the marketing feasibility study for the project, with half of the costs covered by the Orange County Community Foundation. The foundation was created by an anonymous $1-million donation to the city for restoration of the historic home. The council next meets Sept. 1. Information: (949) 361-8200.
