Owners of the Pelican Theater, a nude juice bar on Imperial Highway, recently filed for bankruptcy, according to court documents. The Pelican Theater is apparently going out of business after a two-year struggle with the City Council, which originally denied a business permit on the grounds that it did not meet landscaping and parking requirements.

The owners sued the city and were granted permission to open for business by a federal appeals court in November. Hundreds of residents protested the opening of the theater, fearing it would attract young people to the adult entertainment site.
