The Planning Commission on Thursday could approve a Cox Communications Inc. plan to install 124 cable power supply boxes throughout the city. The natural gas-powered generators would run Cox phone, Internet and television services during power outages, spokesman Dick Waterman said. The backup power supply would allow residents to call for help during emergencies, Waterman said.
Cox plans to add new generators to 93 existing generators in the city. An additional 31 generators would be added mainly to industrial areas in the north part of the city. The Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 23161 Lake Center Drive.
