The City Council will hold a special closed session meeting Tuesday to continue lease negotiations with the Festival of the Arts. The festival’s board of directors want rent on the six acres of property significantly reduced, citing the large increase in tourism revenue the summer event generates for the city. City officials have said they cannot significantly reduce the current rent, 13.75% of the festival’s gross receipts, because of expenses generated by the event, including police services, parking and traffic problems and maintenance for the grounds. The current lease is set to expire Sept. 20. The council will meet at 6 p.m. in chambers, 505 Forest Avenue. Information: (949) 497-0329.
