Security Breach Disrupts O’Hare for 3 Hours

CHICAGO — A passenger ran past a security checkpoint and disappeared into the crowd at O’Hare International Airport on Thursday, prompting United Airlines to shut down a terminal for almost three hours as authorities searched for him.
United Airlines canceled 123 flights and reported delays of several hours on others, said airline spokesman Joe Hopkins.
About 6,000 passengers were cleared from the terminal during the search by police. Chicago police spokesman Patrick Camden said they did not find the man or any suspicious bags.
No United flights left the terminal in the three hours after the incident, and only a few landed at other United gates.
