* William Lobeck resigned as president of AutoNation Inc.’s National Car Rental and Alamo Rent-A-Car units as the world’s largest auto retailer prepares to separate its car-rental business. The car-rental group will report to Michael Karsner, AutoNation’s chief financial officer, until a successor is named. AutoNation also continues to look for a new chief executive. Steve Berrard said in July that he will step down as the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company tries to lift its stock price, which has fallen 23% in the last 12 months. The shares rose 19 cents to close at $14.25 on the NYSE.
