UCLA Defeats Fullerton in Women’s Soccer

Cal State Fullerton took an early lead, but UCLA scored four consecutive goals to defeat the Titans, 4-1, in the nonconference women’s soccer opener for both teams Saturday at Cal State Fullerton.
After the teams were tied, 1-1, at halftime, UCLA’s Venus James scored in the 57th minute on a breakaway. The Bruins put the game away with goals in the 70th minute by Tracey Milburn and Jessica Winton.
Kim Gallo, a sophomore from Esperanza High, scored off a rebound in the 16th minute to give Fullerton the lead, 1-0. UCLA outshot Fullerton, 19-2.
Freshman goalkeeper Blythe Curran, from Huntington Beach High, made seven saves for Fullerton (0-1).
