A 15-year-old Riverside girl died Saturday night when the car she was in hit a tree near a Santa Ana intersection, police said.
Angie Maldonado was killed when the driver, who was traveling at a very high speed, lost control at 11:40 p.m. at 17th and Mabury streets, police said.
An autopsy showed that Maldonado died from head trauma upon impact, said Santa Ana Sgt. Raul Luna.
A man and woman who were in the car suffered minor injuries, police said. All were wearing safety belts.
Luna said the driver did not appear to have been drinking. Police are investigating whether another car was involved in the accident.
Luna requested that any witnesses call the Santa Ana Police Department at (714) 245-8715.
