Last-Second Shot Puts Edison in Title Game

Rachael Ziemann hit a 14-footer with four seconds left in regulation to give Edison a 43-41 victory over Riverside J.W. North and a spot in the championship of the Woodbridge Tip-Off tournament Friday at Woodbridge High.
Edison will play Mater Dei tonight at 7:45.
Michelle Zylstra scored 20 points, had 14 rebounds and six blocked shots for Edison (3-0).
In the other semifinal game:
Mater Dei 38, Woodbridge 33--Kristin Hayman went on a seven-point run to help give visiting Mater Dei the win.
Hayman finished with 15 points, and Jessica Williams added 10 points and seven rebounds for Mater Dei (3-0). Bryn Riley had 13 points for Woodbridge (2-1).
In the Lady Centurion tournament:
Irvine 48, Sonora 42--Kristen Phawley had 13 points and Staci Morita and Jody Carlson scored 11 points each to lead Irvine (3-0).
Brandi Davis led Sonora (2-2), with 19 points.
Santa Ana Valley 52, Orange Lutheran 32--Karina Martinez scored 11 points and had 11 rebounds for Santa Ana Valley, which led, 5-4, after the first quarter and pulled away, outscoring the Lancers 15-6 in the second quarter. Santa Ana Valley (2-2) plays Dana Hills at 4 p.m. at Century.
In the Fullerton Vernie Ford tournament:
Norco 66, Aliso Niguel 36--Norco outscored the Wolverines, 22-5, in the second quarter. Julia Pederson had 16 points for visiting Aliso Niguel (2-1), which plays Santiago for third place at 3 p.m. today at Fullerton.
Valencia 63, Santiago 43--Monika Jackley scored 28 points and Michelle Pietka had 25 for Valencia (4-0). Stephanie Reupena scored 18 points for Santiago (2-1).
In the Hacienda Heights Wilson Tournament:
Whittier Christian 55, Pioneer 25--Allison Holland had 16 points and 11 rebounds while Nicole Stephan chipped in 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead host Whittier Christian (2-2).
In the Lakewood Mayfair/Bellflower tournament:
Costa Mesa 50, Manhattan Beach Mira Costa 39--Autumn Smith scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Costa Mesa (2-1) in the consolation game.
In the Rancho Grande tournament:
Brea Olinda 76, Etiwanda 48--Jill Trader had 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals for Brea Olinda (3-0), which plays Don Lugo for the championship tonight at 7:30 at Rancho Cucamonga High.
In nonleague girls’ basketball:
Cypress 46, Mission Viejo 43--Heather Nitta made two free throws to give Cypress a 44-43 lead. Remy Hitomi had 11 points to lead the host Centurions (2-1). Mission Viejo is 2-1.
Fairmont Prep 36, Cate 28--Shari Tanizawa had 12 points and six assists for Fairmont Prep (2-1).
Magnolia 61, Buena Park 30--Armida Galvez scored 15 points to lead host Magnolia (2-0). Jazmin Young had nine assists and six steals, and Vao Faoa contributed 11 points and nine rebounds for the Sentinels.
North Hollywood Campbell Hall 66, St. Margaret’s 42--The score was tied, 13-13, after the first quarter, but Campbell Hall went on a 19-4 run in the second quarter. Annie Blumberg had 11 points to lead the host Tartans (0-2).
