The city’s Redevelopment Agency on Tuesday will unveil a five-year plan that includes a project to rehabilitate an apartment complex along Plumosa Avenue and efforts to revitalize Main Street’s shopping district.
The City Council is expected to vote on the plan, which is not a binding document but a basic outline of goals and objectives for the next five years. Each project or program proposed in the plan must be brought back to the council for approval.
The plan, required under state law, focuses on the 344-acre Town Center area in the northwest portion of the city along the Imperial Highway corridor. Interim City Manager Daniel Miller said Main Street, the city’s historic downtown, and other retail centers in the area could become a thriving center of sales tax revenue.
