Banning Beats Gardena, 40-32

Wilmington Banning High overcame a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Gardena, 40-32, in the City Section Invitational division championship game Friday night at the Coliseum.
Banning (9-4) was behind, 32-20, when the Pilots scored on a 30-yard pass play from Wally Salinas to James Carter with 8:43 left.
Sixty-one seconds later, Raymond Grajeda returned a fumble 13 yards for a touchdown to give the Pilots a 33-32 lead.
Banning sealed the victory on a one-yard run by Salinas.
Gardena finished 9-4-1.
