The City Council has approved 5% pay raises for City Manager Mike Sedell and City Atty. David Hirsch.
The increase raises Sedell’s annual salary to $148,018 from $140,969 and Hirsch’s salary to $120,172 from $114,449.
Both also receive retirement packages.
Sedell became city manager in 1995 at a salary of $108,000, plus benefits, when he replaced Lin Koester. Hirsch has been city attorney for almost two years.
The city based the increases on performance and on compensation offered for similar positions at other cities in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
Before the increases, city staff found the city manager earned 3.61% less than city managers in similarly sized cities, and the city attorney earned 7% less.
