Cox Communications won a temporary reprieve from noise and traffic complaints and may continue using its land on Preciados Drive for at least a few more months, the Planning Commission decided Monday.
Three neighbors, whose homes border the equipment site, complained to the commission on Oct. 25 that the cable company was making numerous daily trips to the facility and creating noise and traffic in violation of its permit.
Cox proposed limiting its scheduled maintenance trips to Wednesdays and Thursdays, shuttling workers to reduce traffic and building a sound wall around the facility’s generator. Clint Sherrod, the city’s director of planning, persuaded commissioners to take the issue up again Feb. 14, giving Cox time to implement the measures.
