The Angels are expected to hire Daron Sutton, son of Hall of Fame pitcher Don Sutton, to fill the vacancy on their radio broadcast team. Sutton, 30, would join Mario Impemba in the Angels’ radio booth. Sutton has worked on Atlanta Brave broadcasts for the last two seasons, but his only radio experience came as the voice of Double-A Jacksonville in 1994.
Sutton said no deal has been completed. Angel vice president Bob Wagner said he could not comment.
Wagner did say he had talked with Dick Enberg, the most popular announcer in team history. Enberg, who is expected to move from NBC to CBS, told Wagner he was not interested in full-time radio work now but might be at a later date.
