Vanguard Wins After Leading, 43-0

The Vanguard women’s basketball team opened its own tournament Wednesday by scoring the first 43 points en route to an 87-30 victory over La Sierra.
The Lions (10-2) took a 43-0 lead before La Sierra’s Johanna Franco scored with 5 minutes 34 seconds remaining in the first half.
Marisa Emde scored 21 points and Laura Lee had 16 for Vanguard.
In another tournament game:
Concordia 60, Evangel (Mo.) 56--Kristen Kopp’s free throw with seven seconds left provided the clinching point for Concordia (8-2). Jamie Gast scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
In the Cal Lutheran men’s basketball tournament:
Concordia 87, Augustana 72--Josh Giles made five of eight three-pointers and scored 25 points for Concordia (7-3). The Eagles led, by as many as 24 points, at 61-39.
