The city’s Youth Center started off the year by hiring a nationally recognized coach to direct its gymnastics program. Chuck Klumpp joined the Los Alamitos Youth Center Inc. after a 15-year career in the field. He was a member of the U.S. Senior National Men’s Gymnastics Team before becoming an assistant coach for the team. A well-known judge in the sport, he served for four years as a member of the U.S. Olympic Development Committee.

“Chuck brings a whole new dynamic to our program,” said Tom Stretz, executive director of the center. Klumpp will reorganize the program and supervise the purchase of new equipment, Stretz said. For information: (562) 493-4043.
