HEBRON, West Bank — Gunmen hiding in an alley of this divided city fired about two dozen bullets at a passing van Monday, wounding two Jewish settlers.
Palestinian militants were suspected of carrying out the attack.
In clashes that erupted after the incident, Israeli soldiers wounded two Palestinian youngsters.
Two women were wounded in the attack on the van, one of them seriously. The assault took place on a winding road connecting the Jewish settlement of Kiryat Arba and the center of Hebron.
The Israeli army placed a curfew on the downtown area under its control, barring Palestinians from leaving their homes. Troops also prevented all Palestinians from entering or leaving the city.
